Guelaguetza: Oaxaca's Premier Cultural Festival"

The Guelaguetza is Oaxaca’s most important cultural festival and one of Mexico’s most iconic traditions. Every year, during the month of July, delegations from the state's eight regions gather to share their traditions through colorful dances, music, traditional attire, and artistic performances that showcase the cultural richness of their communities.

The word “Guelaguetza” comes from the Zapotec language and means “sharing” or “cooperation,” a value that remains at the heart of this celebration. Throughout the festivities, visitors can enjoy folkloric performances, parades, gastronomic fairs, artisan exhibitions, and a unique experience that connects them with Oaxaca’s history, identity, and renowned hospitality.
